In Umoja, a bustling neighborhood in Nairobi, the seeds of a footballing dream were sown. Born and raised in a family where football was more than a game—it was a legacy—Tusker FC striker and FKF Premier League top scorer Ryan Wesley Ogam is carving out his own remarkable path in Kenyan football. With 15 goals in just 14 matches this season, the 20-year-old sensation is making headlines and inspiring fans with his meteoric rise.
A Football Family Foundation
Ryan’s love for football was inevitable. His father, a former player for clubs like Mahakama, Pelico, and Gor Mahia, passed down not only his skills but also his passion for the beautiful game. “Growing up, I’d say my cousins, my dad, and Arnold Origi were my role models,” Ryan shared. Origi, a celebrated Kenyan goalkeeper, also played a pivotal role in shaping Ryan’s footballing vision.
His journey began with Rainbow FC Kenya, a club that proved instrumental in his development. “Rainbow FC shaped me into the player I am today,” Ryan said. “The belief, trust, and freedom to play there built my confidence, and I owe them a lot.”
From Defensive Midfielder to Striker: A Seamless Transition
Although Ryan started his career as a defensive midfielder, an opportunity at Tusker FC led to a transformative switch to striker—a decision that’s now paying off in goals. “There wasn’t much motivation behind the switch; the team needed a striker, and I took the chance. I had played as a striker in high school, so I knew I could adapt,” he explained.
Despite the challenges of learning new movements and adjusting to the role, Ryan is thriving. “The belief the technical bench has in me and the support from my teammates motivates me to keep improving,” he said.

A Goal Machine in Top Form
Ryan’s blistering form this season has been a revelation. With 15 goals in 14 matches, he leads the league’s scoring charts, but he remains humble about his achievements. “It’s an incredible achievement, but there’s still more work to be done,” he said. “There’s no secret—just believing in what God has in store for me and putting in the work every day.”
Among his standout moments, Ryan cherishes scoring the match-winning goal against Gor Mahia, a victory that meant everything to the team. “It was a crucial match, and that goal is one I’ll always remember,” he said.

Overcoming Challenges and Staying Grounded
Like any athlete, Ryan has faced his share of challenges, including injuries that tested his resolve. “I had to stay motivated and believe everything happens for a reason,” he reflected. That mindset, coupled with unwavering discipline, has been key to his success.
His advice to aspiring footballers is simple but profound: “Stay humble, especially when there’s hype around you. Be disciplined, believe in God, and remain true to your dreams.”
Dreaming Big
Ryan’s ambitions extend far beyond the FKF Premier League. “I’d love to play abroad, maybe in the English Premier League for Manchester United,” he said with a grin. “I also want to be a regular for the national team.”
The Tusker Family: A Source of Strength
Ryan credits much of his success to the support he receives from the Tusker FC family. “Without my teammates, there wouldn’t be Ryan Wesley. They’ve helped me both on and off the pitch,” he said. He’s also grateful to the fans. “To Tusker fans, I say a big thank you for the support. You keep me going.”

A Lesson for Life
Football has taught Ryan invaluable life lessons—discipline, humility, and the importance of treating everyone with respect. These principles guide him not just on the pitch but in all aspects of his life.
As Ryan Wesley Ogam continues to light up the FKF Premier League, his story serves as a beacon of inspiration for young players across Kenya. With his eyes set on greater heights and his feet firmly on the ground, Ryan’s journey is a testament to hard work, resilience, and the power of dreams.
