A Humble Beginning in Kakuma

Born and raised in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, Bichiok’s early years were shaped by resilience and determination. It was in Kakuma that he joined Kakuma United, a team composed of refugee players. More than just a football club, Kakuma United became a beacon of hope for Bichiok, providing him with an outlet to express himself and forge friendships amid adversity. The team’s participation in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament proved to be a turning point in his career. His raw talent, resilience, and defensive prowess caught the eye of scouts, setting him on a path that would take him beyond the confines of the refugee camp.

A Path to Recognition

Kapenguria Boys High School was the first institution to recognize Bichiok’s potential. Coaches from the school, impressed by his performances in Chapa Dimba, extended an invitation for him to join. After the first term, a friend invited him to Ruiru. It was here that fate intervened once again—local club Ruiru Hotstars spotted him while training casually at the Ruiru Stadium and saw immense promise.
