Sofapaka Maintain Momentum with Crucial Win Against Struggling Posta Rangers

Sofapaka extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers at Dandora Stadium, deepening the latter’s struggles in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL).

The hosts, wasted no time in taking control of the match, with Edward Ondimo giving them an early lead in the 12th minute. Batoto ba Mungu capitalized on a defensive lapse from Posta Rangers, who had difficulty getting into the game, doubling their advantage in the 30th minute through Jack Ongaya’s strike.

After the break, Posta Rangers coach Sammy Omollo made changes to try and fight back, but Sofapaka’s defense remained resolute. Posta had a close call in the 54th minute when a powerful shot from Derrick Mwinza hit the crossbar, with the rebound cleared by the Rangers defense.

However, Posta got a lifeline in the 66th minute when a handball by John Onyango inside the penalty area led to a penalty. Dinken Mwema stepped up and converted, making it 2-1. Despite Posta’s efforts to push for an equalizer, Sofapaka held firm and managed to see out the game.

The victory moves Sofapaka to fifth place in the FKF-PL standings, with 24 points from 16 matches. In contrast, Posta Rangers remain at the bottom, still stuck on 14 points from 17 matches, and are winless in their last nine league games.
